What does our program include?

At EdAtlas, we understand that English Language is one of the most demanding and misunderstood subjects in the VCE curriculum. Every year, thousands of students graduate never truly understanding what the subject requires. That’s why our program is designed not only to demystify the content, but to equip students with a clear, structured, and results-driven approach from the very beginning.

Results Backed by a Proven Method

Our method is grounded in a formulaic framework that consistently produces top-of-cohort results — but more importantly, it fosters a genuine appreciation for what English Language has to offer.

Skills That Matter in the Real World

Far beyond rote memorisation, our teaching emphasises the real-world relevance of the subject: from developing media literacy and critical thinking, to understanding how language can be used to shape, manipulate, and reflect society. These are the foundational skills that are absolutely necessary in a rapidly changing, information-heavy world.

Rigour Meets Accessibility

English Language at its best is interdisciplinary — drawing from politics, history, philosophy, and linguistics — while maintaining the analytical clarity expected of a STEM subject. At EdAtlas, we make this complexity accessible. Our approach combines rigour with clarity, ensuring that students not only perform at their best in assessments, but also come to understand the broader significance of their studies.

More Than Just a Score

Although our priority will always be to support you in some of the most difficult years of your high school experience, more than that, we hope that you can walk out of your final exam with more than just a great score. We hope that you can come out of this subject knowing that you are better for having taken it, equipped with a skillset that will serve you far beyond Year 12.

About Me

I graduated as the dux of PEGS in 2024, and I’m now studying Medicine at Monash University. I received a raw 50 and a Premier’s Award in English Language, and in the coming year, I hope to teach you exactly how I achieved these results.

Even though I graduated in 2024, I still think about VCE English Language a lot. This isn’t just because I tutor it, but also because of how relevant it is today. I see it in the advertisements on the street, the propaganda on social media, and the subtle linguistic biases that everyone holds. I always say that the best thing that I got out of this subject was not a certificate or a hefty contribution to my ATAR aggregate, but a deep passion and appreciation for linguistics.

Every year, thousands of students graduate from English Language never truly understanding what the subject demands. As a relatively small subject, there is a lack of resources, support, and clarity regarding how to do well in it. Through my targeted, structured, near-formulaic approach, I hope to eliminate the guesswork from the most crucial subject in your VCE experience.

Whether you’re here because of a passion for language, a desire for more structure than its counterparts, or simply as a last resort, I hope that by the end of the year, you’ll approach English Language not with dread, uncertainty, or exasperation, but with the confidence that you deserve.

I came into VCE English Language not knowing what it really was.

My first assessment was a disaster that left me confused, demotivated, and frustrated. However, after a few more questionable attempts, I began to see a pattern; a formulaic approach that allowed me to score top-of-the-cohort results every single time.

But that’s not where my love for English Language truly started. It developed gradually, over months, as I began to see why this subject really matters. Done right, the skills that English Language equips you with aren’t just for VCE — they are essential for navigating the twenty-first century. The ability to properly articulate your thoughts, media literacy, an understanding of how language can be used to manipulate the unknowing — these are the capabilities we need to survive in a world that becomes more and more 1984-esque with every passing day.

English Language is a subject that combines history, politics, philosophy, and of course, linguistics in a way that simultaneously offers the structure of a STEM subject and the nuance of a humanities subject. I believe it is impossible to attain state-topping scores without a genuine appreciation of the subject and why it’s offered; the complexities of language, the sheer extent to which linguistic choices shape our world, and the interconnected nature of human communication — all of which I hope to teach you over the next year.

All of this is to say: my passion for English Language is a dual one. First and foremost, I’m here to support you during the most important years of your high school journey. For the vast majority of you, this will be the single most important subject in your VCE experience, as it must contribute to your Top 4. Naturally, my primary goal is to help you achieve the results you want and to give you the guidance you deserve along the way. But alongside that, I want you to leave English Language with more than just a high score; I want you to walk out of your final exam knowing that you are better for having taken it, and that you are even a little more aware of just how important language is in the world around us.

I hope to see you all soon!
