Meet your mentor
Hi, my name is Ben.
I am a current Chancellor’s Scholar at the University of Melbourne, studying Bachelor of Commerce (Maths pathway). I scored an ATAR of 99.90, with a 49 in English and Methods, 43 in Specialist Maths, and a perfect score in Physical Education.
Teaching Experience: This is my first year of tutoring, and I have experience tutoring both small-group classes and 1-1 classes/ I’ve worked with students ranging from yr 7-12, so I know exactly what teaching style fits each type of student.
Expertise: I excel in both Maths and English as shown in my two near-perfect scores in English and methods, the two most important pillars of VCE and high school academics.
Teaching philosophy/Style: My teaching style is similar to that of an insightful and fun mentor. I enjoy challenging my students and guiding them by breaking complex concepts or questions into manageable steps. I believe the best way to grow and improve is to push the student to take on questions which they have rarely seen, and then helping them understand the methods required to tackle the question from the beginning to the end.
